Zellweger Syndrome is an autosomal recessive systemic disorder that causes severe neurologic, liver and kidney dysfunction. It is the most severe form of a group of rare, genetic, multi-system disorders known as the Zellweger Spectrum.

Some children affected with Zellweger Syndrome have profound loss of muscle tone and abnormalities of the face and head.

Newborns affected by Zellweger Syndrome have a life expectancy of less than one year.
